I was booked by Sylvie and Paul while they were living overseas. We met for the first time in Richmond Park near Pembroke lodge for an engagement shoot. Sylvie is an actress and now works as a voice coach and the couple are very natural in front of the camera. The logistics of doing an engagement shoot for every wedding is just not possible but sometimes it really helps as you can refer back to certain poses that worked before.
Everything about Sylvie and Paul’s wedding day worked from a photographic viewpoint. The ceremony was in the wonderfully ornate Orleans Gallery House in Richmond upon Thames. Sylvie had a vintage wedding car and she arrived early in the car before the ceremony. This gave the opportunity of some bridal car photos that showcased the car and the beautiful bride.
After the ceremony, we went into the woodland next to the gallery. I managed to get some very natural couple shots using benches, imposing trees and framing some shots with the cow parsley. The wedding reception venue was Taylors Farm Retreat near Dorking. It is a lovely barn venue and working farm. I traveled to the venue with the guests on a double-decker bus.
I photographed the couple on the hay bales after the speeches. There were a few horses that showed interest and poked their heads across the fence for the pictures.
Sylvie and her bridesmaids started the evening with a choreographed dance that was a special surprise for the groom.
